A letter to an 18 year old.

I met an amazing young lady today.

And as such, without naming her, I wanted to write a few things for her from a 28 year old with a wee bit of life experience which she can take into the world for herself.

I’m going to write a few things that I wish someone had told me when I was her age just 10 short years ago.

Don’t care so much about what other people think of you. You are a tall, beautiful and driven young lady and the only opinions that should matter are those of your family and of people you most aspire to be like.

Find contentment in yourself.

Don’t seek to change yourself for anyone.

Stand tall and walk fiercely in the direction of all of your goals. Everything in the world is yours if you want it to be. If you can see it in your mind, you can hold it in your hands.

Know that you are NOT naive and have never been stupid. All you did was trust. Never lose that part of your character, just be careful who you give it to easily. Not everyone is deserving of your heart.

Don’t stop following your gut. Listen to your gut instincts. There’s a reason it speaks strongly to you and that reason got you in your car earlier today.

I wish someone had told me some of these things when I was 18. Look around you, there Is so much love.
